Poland Ministry of Health updates dental care and oncology diagnostic access

The Polish Ministry of Health has provided updates regarding dental care accessibility and diagnostic procedures. Data shows an increase in the number of providers offering dental services under general anesthesia, rising from 79 in 2025 to 88 in the first half of 2026. The highest concentration of these facilities is currently in the Mazowieckie, Śląskie, and Małopolskie provinces.

Despite the increase in providers and funding, challenges remain regarding access for patients with significant disabilities. Additionally, the Ministry stated it does not currently plan to allow dentists to issue DiLO (Diagnostics and Oncology Treatment) cards. While dental specialists, including oral surgeons and periodontologists, have advocated for this ability to expedite the diagnosis of oral cancer, the Ministry indicated the proposal may be re-evaluated in the future.
