Poland mortgage market hits record 14 billion PLN in July
In July 2026, the Polish mortgage market reached a historic milestone, with the value of residential loans exceeding 14 billion PLN for the first time. According to data from the Biuro Informacji Kredytowej (BIK), the total value of housing loans reached approximately 14.78 billion PLN, representing an increase of over 45% compared to July 2025.
The number of mortgage agreements also saw significant growth, with 30,300 loans issued in July, a one-third increase year-on-year. The average amount for a single mortgage loan rose to a record 487,530 PLN, up 9.1% from the previous year.
Analysts attribute this boom to improved creditworthiness among Polish citizens, driven by rising nominal and real wages and a reduction in the cost of credit compared to the previous year. This environment has encouraged both new property purchases and the refinancing of older loans that were based on higher fixed interest rates.
