Poland moves ahead with plans for permanent US military base

The Polish government approved a set of legislative proposals that include authorising the creation of a permanent United States Forces base on Polish territory. Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced that the Council of Ministers will develop the legal and logistical framework, and the defence minister will lead the preparations. While the exact location remains undisclosed, the plan calls for extensive infrastructure, housing and financial arrangements to accommodate a larger US troop presence, aiming to strengthen security on NATO’s eastern flank.

The package also contains measures on fuel‑company profit taxes, digitalisation of limited‑liability companies and expanded access to medical‑staff salary data, but the permanent US base proposal is the headline initiative.
