Poland: MP calls for reform of vintage vehicle registration laws

Polish Member of Parliament Paulina Matysiak is calling on the Ministry of Infrastructure to reform vehicle registration laws regarding vintage and unique vehicles. The issue arose after a citizen reported that current regulations require owners to apply for registration within 30 days of purchasing a vehicle.

Under Article 73aa of the Road Traffic Law, this 30-day window applies even to vehicles that were deregistered decades ago and are being purchased specifically for long-term restoration. Such projects often require years to complete due to the difficulty of sourcing original parts, conducting conservation work, and gathering necessary documentation. Matysiak argues that the current law creates an artificial burden, forcing owners to initiate a registration process for vehicles that are not yet in a condition to be legally registered, leading to bureaucratic complications and suspended proceedings.
