Poland to include small alcohol bottles in deposit system
The Polish Ministry of Climate and Environment has prepared a draft law to include small glass alcohol bottles, commonly known as ‘małpki’, into the national deposit system. Minister Paulina Hennig-Kloska stated that while the project is ready, implementation is expected to take time due to the need for infrastructure and logistical adjustments by system operators.
A realistic target date for the inclusion of these small bottles is January 2028. The government is also considering alternative measures within anti-alcohol legislation, such as a potential ban on the sale of high-proof alcohol in small packaging, which would eliminate the need for their inclusion in the deposit system.
