Poland national basketball team draws 93-93 with Bulgaria
The Poland national basketball team played to a 93-93 draw against Bulgaria in a friendly match held in Krakow. The game served as the first of three scheduled warm-ups ahead of the second stage of the 2027 World Cup qualifiers.
Poland narrowly missed a victory in the final seconds when a turnover by Kamil Łączyński allowed Umoja Gibson to hit a three-pointer for the equalizer. Mateusz Ponitka led the Polish scoring with 21 points, followed by Aleksander Balcerowski with 16 and Dominik Olejniczak with 14. The match also marked the senior national team debut of 20-year-old Zoran Milicic.
The Polish squad played without several key players, including Jordan Loyd, Andrzej Pluta, and Przemysław Żołnierewicz. The team is scheduled to continue its preparations with upcoming matches against Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo and Greece in Athens, before facing Israel and Germany in the official qualifying rounds.
