Poland handball team defeats Latvia in Euro 2028 qualifiers

The Polish national handball team secured a convincing 33:24 victory against Latvia in their opening match of the Euro 2028 qualifying third round. The game, held at the Stegu Arena in Opole, saw Poland take an early lead, establishing a 5:0 advantage and maintaining control throughout the match.

Despite missing key leaders such as Kamil Syprzak, Arkadiusz Moryto, and Szymon Sićko due to injury, the team performed strongly. Filip Michałowicz led the scoring with eight goals, while Paweł Paterek contributed four.

This victory places Poland in Group 6 of the qualifiers, alongside France, Romania, and Latvia. The team will look to build on this momentum as they continue their campaign to qualify for the tournament hosted by Spain, Portugal, and Switzerland in 2028.
