Gdynia revamps Unruga forest area with new trails and outdoor fitness facilities

The former informal paths along Unruga Street in Gdynia’s Obłuże district have been transformed into a formalized green space. Funded through the city’s participatory budget and additional district council resources, the project adds paved mineral‑resin walkways, a range of outdoor fitness equipment for children and adults, a street‑workout zone, benches, waste bins and informative signage. Wooden structures, including a bridge, obstacle course and climbing line, were built from durable acacia wood to blend with the forest setting. An educational corner now displays tree stumps and explanatory panels about natural decay processes. Local officials, including Vice‑Mayors Rafał Geremek and Tomasz Augustyniak, highlighted the improvement in accessibility, safety and recreational opportunities for residents.
