Poland opens new expressway sections in Podlaskie and Beskids
New infrastructure developments have been completed in Poland. A 10 km section of the S19 expressway in the Podlaskie Voivodeship is now open, connecting the Krynice area to the S8 interchange at Białystok Zachód. This investment, costing 405 million PLN, is part of the Via Carpatia project and aims to create a bypass for Białystok to divert transit traffic from the Belarusian border. Future sections, including Czarna Białostocka–Białystok Północ and Białystok Północ–Dobrzyniewo, are planned for completion by 2029.
Additionally, the S1 expressway bypass of Węgierska Górka has reached its one-year anniversary. The 8.5 km route, featuring high viaducts over the Beskid Żywiecki mountains, has seen over 4 million vehicles pass through it since its opening in October 2025. The bypass has significantly reduced traffic congestion in the towns of Węgierska Górka, Cięcina, and Milówka, facilitating smoother travel toward the Slovakian border.
