Poland opens new S19 segment of Via Carpatia linking Deniski and Haćki

On 4 August, a 6.5 km section of the S19 expressway between Deniski and Haćki was opened to traffic. The segment is part of the Via Carpatia trans‑European corridor and features two lanes in each direction, an emergency lane, a 120 km/h speed limit (reduced to 60 km/h near the Deniski junction), four bridges with wildlife passages, four viaducts and six ecological culverts.

The new stretch connects with previously opened sections Haćki–Bielsk Podlaski West and Bielsk Podlaski West–Boćki, bringing the total length of the S19 corridor in the Podlaskie region to over 27 km. GDDKiA plans to complete three additional sections (Krynice–Dobrzyniewo–Białystok West, Boćki–Malewice and Malewice–Chlebczyn) by the end of 2026, creating an almost 80 km backbone of the Via Carpatia route through Poland.

Works continue on adjacent local roads and service areas, with full completion of the S19 segment expected in autumn 2026. Via Carpatia will eventually link the Baltic port of Klaipėda in Lithuania with Thessaloniki in Greece, passing through Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria and Greece.
