Poland energy markets: Rising pellet prices and fuel regulation updates

Energy and commodity markets in Poland are experiencing various shifts. Fuel prices are subject to the CPN (Lower Fuel Prices) package, which includes a reduced VAT rate of 8 percent. While experts predict some relief for drivers in the final week of summer, weekend maximum rates for gasoline 95 and diesel are expected to rise slightly compared to Friday levels.

In the heating sector, pellet prices have surged significantly, reaching between 2,000 and 2,600 PLN per ton. This is a substantial increase from the 1,200 PLN levels seen in late 2025. The Ministry of Energy has notified UOKiK regarding these summer price hikes and is looking into improving import coordination to increase raw material availability for the approximately 450,000 households using pellet boilers.

Separately, the cattle market has seen a 1% weekly increase in prices, with the average price for live weight reaching 12.59 PLN/kg. Despite recent monthly growth, prices remain approximately 12.4% lower than the previous year.
