Poland: ZUS announces 2027 pension and benefit updates
The Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) has released financial plans and regulatory updates for 2027. Government forecasts suggest a pension indexation of approximately 3.96 percent, with the projected minimum pension for March 1, 2027, reaching 2,056.84 PLN gross. Additionally, the nursing allowance for seniors aged 75 and older is expected to rise to 381.20 PLN.
Significant changes to widow's pensions (renta wdowia) will take effect in January 2027, increasing the share of the second benefit from 15 percent to 25 percent. This adjustment is expected to be processed automatically by ZUS without requiring new applications.
Administrative reforms are also underway to simplify benefit claims. New regulations aim to reduce paperwork by consolidating various forms for care and maternity benefits into single applications. For entrepreneurs, the requirement to provide the Z-3b certificate will be eliminated. Furthermore, new rules regarding sick leave (L4) will allow employees with multiple jobs to continue certain duties if their health permits, provided the work does not conflict with their medical recovery.
