Poland implements pension, wage, and social security reforms

Poland is undergoing several significant shifts in its social security and labor landscape. The Sejm has passed legislation to provide ZUS contribution subsidies for artists with low or irregular incomes, specifically those earning below 125 percent of the minimum wage.

Regarding pensions, the Ministry of Family projects a 103.96 percent indexation rate for 2027, which is expected to result in a minimum pension of 2,056.84 PLN gross by March 2027. Additionally, new survivor benefit rules have already resulted in ZUS paying over 1.4 billion PLN to more than one million people.

Labor regulations have also seen major changes. Since the beginning of 2026, nearly 900,000 applications for seniority certificates have been filed. These certificates allow workers to include periods of civil law contracts and self-employment in their total seniority, which can increase annual leave from 20 to 26 days. Furthermore, the minimum wage is set to rise to 4,950 PLN gross starting January 1, 2027.
