Poland: Phishing scam targets OLX users and tax ruling on tuition

A social media expert, Wojtek Kardyś, narrowly avoided a financial scam while attempting to sell a monitor on the OLX platform. The fraud involved a sophisticated scheme where a buyer contacted him via WhatsApp using a convincing profile and a photo of his actual advertisement.

The scammer requested an email address and subsequently sent a fraudulent email designed to look like an official OLX communication. This email claimed a payment had been processed and provided a link to a fake login page that closely mimicked the legitimate service to steal banking credentials.

Separately, the National Tax Information (KIS) in Poland has ruled that a business owner may include their child's university tuition as a deductible business expense, provided the education is directly related to the business's needs and the expenditure has a clear economic purpose.
