Poland: PiS election outlook and Order of the White Eagle dispute

In an interview published by Do Rzeczy, political sociologist Ryszard Gromadzki and commentator Marcin Palade argued that the Law and Justice party (PiS) faces a bleak prospect of reaching 35‑40% of the vote in the 2027 parliamentary elections. They noted a seven‑year downward trend in PiS polling and described a 40% target as unlikely as winning the lottery.

At the same time, a diplomatic controversy erupted after the Polish government revoked the Order of the White Eagle for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Foreign Minister Marcin Przydacz accused coalition politicians of inaction in the face of perceived glorification of the OUN‑UPA, while former foreign minister Radosław Sikorski suggested alternative naming for the Jasionka airport. The row reflects growing tension in Warsaw’s policy toward Kyiv.
