Poland: PiS politicians criticize government decision to halt railway line 84 construction

Politicians from the Law and Justice (PiS) party are criticizing the government's decision to abandon plans for the construction of railway line 84. The project was intended to connect Radom with Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski and eventually Rzeszów.

Senator Wojciech Skurkiewicz stated that the government is setting aside the construction of this line, which would serve as a vital connection for residents across three voivodeships. Instead of the planned railway, the Ministry of Infrastructure has proposed a bus connection via national road No. 9.

Senator Jarosław Rusiecki noted that the abandoned line would have been the shortest and fastest route linking the Podkarpackie, Świętokrzyskie, and southern Mazowieckie voivodeships to the Central Communication Port (CPK). Local officials from various levels of government have expressed opposition to the change in transport strategy.
