Poland plans new agricultural subsidies for climate resilience

The Monitoring Committee for the Strategic Plan for the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) for 2023-2027 has positively reviewed a new intervention aimed at strengthening the resilience of farms against climate, energy, and market risks. The plan involves shifting 80 million euros in public funds, supplemented by 44 million euros from the European Union, to support various agricultural needs across Poland.

Under the proposed scheme, farmers managing up to 300 hectares can receive up to 50,000 PLN for specific equipment. Eligible purchases include stationary diesel storage tanks (between 2,500 and 5,000 liters), urea-ammonium nitrate (RSM) tanks (minimum 10,000 liters), power generators with at least 10 kW of power, vending machines for farm products, and orchard protection against frost and hail.

Additionally, water companies may access up to 1 million PLN for investments designed to retain water on meliorated lands. While the basic assumptions have been established, a specific date for the commencement of applications, detailed regulations, and final budget allocations have not yet been determined.
