Polish online scams target OLX users, seniors and Facebook accounts

Scammers in Poland are using phishing techniques to hijack accounts on popular platforms. On OLX, victims receive fake login links or payment forms, leading to credential theft and account takeover. Compromised accounts are then used to send spam, publish fraudulent ads and extract money, often resulting in automatic blocks by OLX security systems.

Police officers warned that seniors are being impersonated by fraudsters posing as law‑enforcement, family members or company representatives. The calls aim to extract life savings, and authorities urge relatives to discuss such threats with older relatives and to report suspicious calls to 112.

Facebook users also face a range of scams, from fake e‑mails that mimic Meta communications to bogus notifications, private messages requesting login details, and malicious browser plugins that hijack advertising accounts. Victims are advised to verify sender addresses, avoid clicking unknown links, and never share sensitive data through private messages.

Common advice across the incidents includes changing passwords, enabling two‑factor authentication, reviewing login activity, and reporting fraud to platform operators and police.
