Poland prepares digital tax with July consultations targeting US tech giants

Deputy Minister of Digitisation Dariusz Standerski announced that government‑led consultations on a digital tax will begin in July. The draft law, entered in the legislative work plan earlier this year, aims to levy a tax of up to 3 % on revenue from selected digital services provided in Poland.

The tax will apply to large internet firms that generate global revenues above €1 billion and at least 25 million złoty in Polish revenue, irrespective of their country of headquarters. Standerski highlighted that American technology companies will also be subject to the contribution.

Projected fiscal benefits range from about 1.7 billion złoty in the first full year of implementation to roughly 2 billion złoty the following year, with potential rises to 3 billion złoty in later years. The finance ministry will cooperate with the digitisation ministry, and all interested parties will have the opportunity to submit comments during the consultation process.
