Poland preserves Jewish heritage and multicultural history

Poland is actively working to preserve and revitalize the memory of its Jewish heritage, which was largely destroyed during the Holocaust. While Jewish communities once comprised nearly 10% of the Polish population, their legacy remains visible through synagogues, cemeteries, and historical districts in cities like Krakow and Lublin.

Efforts to reclaim this history include the establishment of museums, cultural festivals, and heritage restorations. In Krakow, the Kazimierz district serves as a significant site for recovering this monumental legacy.

In Bialystok, the city's multicultural identity is being highlighted through guided tours. Starting in the summer of 2026, the PTTK will offer free guided trips on a vintage bus. These routes explore the city's diverse history, including its Catholic, Orthodox, Jewish, Evangelical, and Esperanto connections, treating the urban landscape as a living narrative of its former inhabitants.
