Poland President sets Senate by-election date for Lubuskie

President Karol Nawrocki has scheduled by-elections for the Polish Senate in the Lubuskie Voivodeship. The vote is set to take place on November 22 in electoral district No. 20.

The district includes the counties of Krosno, Świebodzin, and Zielona Góra, as well as the city of Zielona Góra. The election is being held to fill the vacancy left by General Mirosław Różański, who passed away on August 24 following a battle with cancer.

General Różański was a prominent figure in the Polish military, having served as the General Commander of the Branches of the Armed Forces. He transitioned to politics in 2023, winning a Senate seat as a candidate for Third Way and later joining the Nowa Polska-Centrum club. The Senate Marshal, Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, formally confirmed the expiration of his mandate on August 27.
