Poland: Presidential Palace and Foreign Ministry clash over ambassadorial nomination

A dispute has emerged between the Polish Presidential Palace and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the professional quality of diplomatic nomination documents. Marcin Przydacz, head of the Presidential International Policy Bureau, criticized a request submitted by Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski, noting that a candidate's photo was submitted using a ‘chiaroscuro’ technique, characterized by extreme light and shadow contrasts that made it difficult to see.

In response, Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Maciej Wewiór defended the ministry's documentation standards, suggesting that the Presidential Chancellery should instead inspect its own photocopiers and document circulation. The Ministry also questioned whether the issue pertained to a candidacy that had been withdrawn nine months prior, suggesting the criticism might reflect poorly on the Chancellery's efficiency. Despite the exchange of criticisms, Przydacz indicated that President Karol Nawrocki would accept the ambassadorial application.
