Poland probes scandal at Warsaw's South Hospital amid accusations of medical errors and financial misconduct

Former head of surgery Emil Jędrzejewski was interrogated by the Warsaw District Prosecutor's Office over alleged irregularities at the South Hospital in Warsaw. He alleged medical errors in the emergency department that led to complications and possible deaths, preferential treatment for Civic Coalition politicians, and chaotic management by a junior doctor. The probe also examines the high earnings of the emergency department coordinator, Dawid Kacprzyk, reported at 1.6 million zł in the previous year, and accusations that he ran a fast‑track service for politicians.

Following Jędrzejewski’s nine‑hour testimony, prosecutors have expanded their witness list and begun questioning additional medical and administrative staff. A third investigation is planned to address alleged medical malpractice, salary abuses and management failures, with further hearings expected in the coming months.
