Poland promotes child reading with #TataTeżCzyta campaign and reading week

The Fundacja Powszechnego Czytania, supported by the Lajkonik brand, launched the 2025 edition of the #TataTeżCzyta campaign. The initiative stresses that shared reading fosters a child’s language, memory, imagination and emotional skills, and highlights the special role of fathers and other caregivers. The campaign cites National Library figures showing that 41 % of Poles aged 15 and over read at least one book in 2025, with 47 % of women and 34 % of men doing so. Practical advice urges daily 15‑minute reading sessions, choice of favorite stories, silence and conversation during reading.

On May 29, Suwałki hosted the 25th Ogólnopolski Tydzień Czytania Dzieciom (National Children’s Reading Week). Children and teachers from local primary schools and a kindergarten took part in loud reading, interactive quizzes, and a showcase of student artworks inspired by Julian Tuwim’s poem “Lokomotywa”. The event aimed to celebrate reading as “Wisdom – Strength” and to encourage ongoing engagement with books.

Both efforts seek to embed reading habits in families and schools across Poland, presenting reading as a routine, shared activity that supports child development.
