Poland promotes cycling tourism: Lubiąż family ride and Piła city hall visit

On July 25, a family-oriented cycling excursion departed from Wrocław and covered the 32‑kilometre round‑trip route Wołów–Lubiąż–Wołów. The twelve‑person group, including five children, was led by former Lower Silesian voivode and Lubiąż Foundation president Witold Krochmal, who provided a guided tour of the historic monastery complex. Participants rode on a dedicated asphalt path following an old railway line, stopped for a picnic, and concluded the day with ice cream.

Five days later, on July 30, veteran cyclist Wiesław Lopko visited the Piła City Hall. He met with Mayor Beata Dudzińska, who praised his two‑decade‑long project of cycling across Poland, documenting over 108 thousand kilometres and thousands of local encounters. Lopko, who has travelled to countless towns, villages and institutions, added Piła to his chronicle and received a commemorative entry in his travel log.

Both events highlight a growing enthusiasm for cycling tourism in Poland, showcasing community engagement, cultural heritage visits, and the promotion of active travel by local officials.
