Poland promotes influenza and COVID-19 vaccinations for autumn
As autumn and winter approach, health authorities in Poland are emphasizing the importance of influenza and COVID-19 vaccinations to prevent serious complications. The National Health Fund (NFZ) provides reimbursements for these vaccines for specific eligible groups.
For influenza, 100% reimbursement is available for children aged 6 months to 18 years, seniors aged 65 and older, and pregnant or postpartum women. Adults between 18 and 64 are eligible for 50% reimbursement, while high-dose vaccines for those aged 60 and over are also covered. To access these benefits, a prescription from a doctor, nurse, midwife, or pharmacist is required.
Vaccinations can be administered in primary healthcare facilities or at selected pharmacies. In pharmacies, qualified pharmacists can perform the qualification assessment and administer the vaccine. Gemini Pharmacy, for instance, has implemented online booking to facilitate access, noting that they performed over 140,000 vaccinations in 2025, including those for RSV, pneumococcus, shingles, and tick-borne encephalitis.
