Poland: Proper disposal of used batteries required to prevent fires

Used batteries and portable accumulators must not be disposed of in municipal waste bins due to the risk of fire and environmental contamination. Improper disposal can lead to the pollution of soil and water with harmful substances.

In Warsaw and other cities, residents can dispose of these items free of charge at various locations, including battery retailers, electronic waste collection points, municipal facilities, and specialized selective waste collection points (PSZOK). Retailers with a sales area exceeding 25 square meters that sell batteries are also obligated to facilitate collection. For devices with non-removable batteries, the entire unit should be treated as electronic waste rather than being dismantled manually.
