Poland sets 2027 minimum wage at 4,950 PLN gross

The Polish government has announced the minimum wage rates for 2027 following a failure to reach an agreement within the Council for Social Dialogue. Effective January 1, 2027, the monthly minimum wage will increase by 3 percent, rising from 4,806 PLN gross to 4,950 PLN gross. The minimum hourly rate will also see a modest increase of 0.90 PLN, moving from 31.40 PLN to 32.30 PLN gross.

During negotiations, labor unions advocated for a minimum wage of at least 5,200 PLN, while employer organizations suggested a lower figure of approximately 4,861 PLN. The final government proposal maintains a ratio of the minimum wage to the average salary at approximately 50 percent, aligning with EU directives on adequate minimum wages.

Economic experts note that while the increase is moderate compared to previous years, it may not provide a real increase in purchasing power if inflation exceeds the projected 3 percent. Small businesses are expected to feel the impact most significantly, as rising employment costs represent a substantial portion of their operating expenses.
