Wrocław holds funeral for 49 anti-communist resistance victims

A funeral ceremony was held at the Osobowicki Cemetery in Wrocław to honor 49 soldiers and activists of the Polish anti-communist underground. The victims, who died during the Stalinist era, were buried in a newly established war quarter following exhumations conducted by the Institute of National Remembrance (IPN).

Polish President Karol Nawrocki attended the ceremony, stating that the victims' sacrifice serves as an inspiration in the struggle for truth and memory. He criticized the communist system for its brutality and its attempts to destroy the graves and legacies of those who fought for Poland's independence. The ceremony included a Mass led by Bishop Wiesław Lechowicz and served as a formal tribute to members of organizations such as the Home Army (Armia Krajowa), National Armed Forces (NSZ), and National Military Union (NZW).
