Poland prosecutors charge drivers in separate fatal accidents
Prosecutors in Poland have brought charges in two separate fatal traffic accidents involving drivers under the influence of psychotropic substances.
In Chyliny, the District Prosecutor's Office in Przasnysz filed an indictment against Robert F. following a collision on February 2, 2026. The driver of an Opel reportedly exceeded the speed limit by 46 km/h and failed to react to a Volvo truck partially obstructing the lane. The crash resulted in the deaths of three passengers aged 40, 49, and 65.
In a separate incident in Syrynia, the District Prosecutor's Office in Gliwice is investigating Kacper B., who has pleaded guilty to causing a fatal accident. Investigators determined that the driver of an Opel Astra failed to stop at a STOP sign, colliding with a Toyota Proace City. The crash killed 22-year-old Patrycja J. While toxicology reports confirmed the presence of psychotropic substances in the driver's blood, the suspect claimed he was unaware of their origin.
