Poland protests seizure of Independent Media Foundation accounts
Adam Borowski, a social ombudsman and chair of the Warsaw Polish Gazette Club, organized a demonstration outside the prosecutor's office on Taras Szewczenki Square in Warsaw. The protest responded to the unlawful seizure of the bank accounts of the Independent Media Foundation (Fundacja Niezależne Media) ordered by the government of Prime Minister Donald Tusk. Borowski demanded that newly appointed Ombudsman Sylwia Gregorczyk‑Abram intervene, asking "Why does she not intervene when illegal actions occur?".
Former PiS MP Janusz Kowalski also joined the rally, accusing Tusk of attempting to destroy TV Republika by 2027 and describing the account seizure as "banditry". Kowalski linked the action to a dispute over a 5.7 million‑zł grant awarded to the foundation in spring 2023.
