Poland releases 2026 eighth‑grade exam results with mixed performance

The Centralna Komisja Egzaminacyjna (CKE) published the results of the 2026 Polish eighth‑grade exam, which was taken by approximately 386,750 students (about 97% of the cohort). The national average scores were 65 % in Polish, 55 % in mathematics and 73 % in the foreign language (mostly English). The report highlighted areas of strength, such as Polish reading tasks and math problems on powers, and noted the difficulty of open‑ended tasks that required abstract thinking.

School‑level data showed notable variation. Some schools, for example the primary school in Brzezin, achieved scores well above regional and national averages, while many schools in Rawicz County fell below the countrywide mean (59.2 % in Polish, 47.6 % in math, 63.4 % in English). Teachers referenced a "positive surprise" in the results, suggesting cautious optimism for future cohorts. The detailed analysis also included performance of students with special educational needs, who used adapted test versions.
