Poland pushes upgrades for apartment blocks with insulation incentives and battery storage regulations

Thermal modernisation of large‑panel apartment blocks in Poland can cut heating bills by up to 40 % and raise property values, especially when the façade needs repair and windows are replaced. Experts warn that for severely deteriorated buildings the costs of insulation, window replacement and structural repairs may outweigh the energy savings.

At the same time the Polish government is finalising new rules for installing energy‑storage systems in residential blocks. The draft regulation raises capacity thresholds to 30, 60 and 120 kWh and sets fire‑safety requirements, including fire‑proof cabinets for batteries up to 11 kWh in apartments and up to 600 kWh for commercial zones. The changes aim to simplify approvals for small home batteries while tightening standards for larger installations.
