Poland pushes wheat exports to Egypt and sees early gains from EU‑Mercosur farm trade

Polish officials met with Egyptian ambassador Ahmed Samy Mohamed Mahmoud ElAnsary at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to discuss restarting wheat shipments to Egypt after a multi‑year pause, as well as expanding market access for Polish beef and poultry. Deputy Minister Małgorzata Gromadzka highlighted that Polish agri‑food exports to Egypt reached €104 million in 2025, a rise of 18 % year‑on‑year, and stressed Egypt’s interest in diversifying grain sources.

Separately, the first month of the provisional EU‑Mercosur trade agreement showed a surge in Polish farm exports and a decline in imports, according to the Ministry of Agriculture. Experts warned that the short‑term data could be affected by single large shipments, but the initial figures suggest Polish farmers are benefitting from the new market access.

Both developments indicate a broader strategy to broaden Poland’s agricultural presence in non‑EU markets, targeting the Middle East and South America.
