Poland raises alimentary fund income limit and moves to automatic 800+ renewals

From 1 October 2026 Poland will increase the income threshold that qualifies families for the alimentary fund to 1 665 zł per person, up from the previous 1 209 zł. The change will allow additional households to apply for assistance when court-ordered alimony is not collected. Eligible recipients must be under 18 (or under 25 while studying) and may receive up to 1 000 zł a month, with a reduced payout if income exceeds the limit.

At the same time, the government plans to amend the 800 plus child benefit program so that payments are automatically renewed for each benefit period, eliminating the need for yearly applications. The proposal is slated for Cabinet approval in the second quarter of 2026. New rules already apply to Ukrainian citizens with UKR status from February and will extend from 1 June to other non‑EU/EFTA foreigners. The benefit continues to require parental employment and the child’s school attendance in Poland.

Both measures aim to broaden social support for families, simplify administration, and adjust eligibility criteria to reflect current economic conditions.
