Poland R&D spending reaches 58.8 billion PLN in 2025
Research and development (R&D) expenditures in Poland rose to 58.8 billion PLN in 2025, marking a 14.2% increase from the previous year. According to data from Statistics Poland (GUS), R&D spending as a percentage of GDP increased to 1.5%, up from 1.41% in 2024.
The business sector was the primary driver of this growth, spending 38.2 billion PLN, which accounts for approximately 64.9% of total national R&D expenditures. Other contributors included higher education (32.8%), the government sector (2.2%), and non-commercial private institutions (0.1%).
Complementary data from the Ministry of Finance shows that R&D tax relief is also seeing significant growth. In 2025 CIT settlements, companies reported 12.63 billion PLN in tax deductions, a 12.9% increase compared to 2024. While the total value of these deductions has grown by over one-third since 2023, the number of taxpayers utilizing the relief has grown more modestly, increasing by only 2.5% between 2024 and 2025.
