Poland receives new K2 tanks amid reports of technical issues
Poland is continuing its military modernization through the delivery of South Korean K2 tanks. While recent shipments have arrived in Braniewo to bolster the 9th Armored Cavalry Brigade, reports have emerged regarding technical malfunctions in the initial batches of these fourth-generation tanks.
More than half of the first batch of K2 tanks is reportedly stationary in depots due to unspecified technical issues. These units are stationed near the border with the Kaliningrad Oblast, a strategically sensitive area. In response, the Polish Armaments Agency has minimized the concerns, stating that malfunctions are a normal part of the break-in period for new weapon systems. Spokesperson Grzegorz Polak assured that the tanks remain operational and that the issue is being resolved in cooperation with South Korean suppliers.
In addition to the K2 tanks, the Polish military has begun deploying the LOTR Kleszcz, a new light armored reconnaissance vehicle developed by the Polish company AMZ-Kutno. Designed to replace aging Soviet-era BRDM-2 vehicles, the Kleszcz features advanced optical sensors and radar to provide real-time battlefield intelligence.
