Poland records record foreign tourist spending, Germans lead the surge

In the first quarter of 2026, foreign visitors crossed Poland’s borders 63.5 million times, a rise of 1.3 million over the previous year. Their total spending reached 10.9 billion zlotys, up 7.8 % YoY. German travelers accounted for the largest share, representing 52 % of land‑border crossings and 50.4 % of foreign expenditure, with the majority of spending directed to non‑food goods (52.4 %).

Polish tourism operators note that the country is becoming a “serious competitor” for German holidaymakers. Industry sources expect about 23 million foreign tourists in 2026, attracted by the Baltic coast’s long beaches, modern wellness hotels and favourable price‑quality ratios. German visitors praise Polish hotel standards, services and the distinct coastal atmosphere, reinforcing Poland’s growing role in the regional tourism market.
