Poland: Regulations for rainwater management and chimney inspections

In Poland, property owners must adhere to specific regulations regarding rainwater management and chimney maintenance to avoid legal issues and fines.

Regarding water management, a water law permit from Wody Polskie is not required in certain scenarios, such as when rainwater is absorbed into the ground within property boundaries, discharged directly into municipal sewage systems via contract, or collected in fully sealed tanks for reuse.

For building safety, the National Chamber of Chimney Sweeps emphasizes that all periodic chimney inspections must be documented through an electronic protocol (e-protocol) in the Central Register of Emission of Buildings (CEEB). Traditional paper protocols are no longer legally sufficient to prove an inspection has occurred. Additionally, maintenance schedules require cleaning chimney ducts in solid-fuel heated homes at least every three months and ventilation ducts at least once a year.
