Poland releases 2026/2027 influenza vaccines with varying reimbursement
Three influenza vaccines—Vaxigrip, Influvac, and Efluelda—are now available in Polish pharmacies and wholesalers for the 2026/2027 season. The Ministry of Health advises vaccination before the peak infection period, which typically begins in October and reaches its height between January and March.
Reimbursement rules vary by age and vaccine type. Free vaccinations are available for children and adolescents from six months of age up to 18 years, seniors aged 65 and older, and pregnant or postpartum women. Adults aged 18 to 64 are eligible for a 50 percent reimbursement with a prescription. While Vaxigrip and Influvac are included in free medicine lists and the 'Pregnancy Plus' program, Efluelda—intended for those aged 60 and over—is subject to 50 percent reimbursement but is not on the free medicine list.
Vaccinations can be administered by doctors or nurses in primary healthcare clinics, or by trained pharmacists in pharmacies that have contracts with the National Health Fund (NFZ). Prescriptions can be issued by primary care physicians, pediatricians, gynecologists, or pharmacists.
