Poland releases first nationwide report on cultural NGOs

A new report titled ‘III sektor w kulturze. Raport z badania. Diagnoza sektora pozarządowego w obszarze kultury w Polsce’ provides the first nationwide study of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) operating in Poland's cultural sector. Developed by Magdalena Tędziagolska and Bartłomiej Walczak for the workshop ‘Badania i Działania’ under an initiative by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, the document aims to create more effective support mechanisms for social organizations and improve cooperation between public entities and the third sector.

The findings highlight significant financial and operational challenges for these organizations. The study reveals that 76 percent of third-sector organizations work with volunteers. However, financial stability is a major concern: over half of the surveyed NGOs operate with an annual budget below 50,000 PLN, and 80 percent lack financial reserves exceeding a single quarter.
