Poland reports 141.1 billion PLN budget deficit through July
Poland's Ministry of Finance reported a state budget deficit of 141.1 billion PLN after the first seven months of 2026. During this period, budget revenues reached 333.9 billion PLN, while expenditures totaled 475.0 billion PLN. Although revenues were 20.1 billion PLN higher than in the same period of 2025, the gap between income and spending remains significant. Major expenditure categories include the Social Insurance Institution (108.4 billion PLN), national defense (54.4 billion PLN), and state debt servicing (46.6 billion PLN).
Separately, data regarding the Armed Forces Support Fund (FWSZ) indicates a slow pace of spending. By the end of June, only 11.1 billion PLN had been spent out of a planned 77.2 billion PLN for the year, representing 14.5% execution. The Ministry of National Defense attributed this to the time-consuming nature of modernization procedures and the synchronization of payments with bond issuances to minimize debt servicing costs. The fund is primarily intended for the Armed Forces Development Program and the 'East Shield' initiative.
