Poland reports dangerous driving incidents involving wrong-way driver and intoxicated officer

Two separate incidents of dangerous driving have been reported in Poland. On the S61 expressway heading toward Suwałki, an elderly man driving a Fiat was caught traveling against the flow of traffic after entering the highway through a technical gate. The Ełk District Police reported that the incident, caught on video by GDDKiA Olsztyn, posed a severe threat to other motorists. The driver had his license confiscated and faces court proceedings.

In a separate incident in Zawiercie, a non-duty traffic police officer was apprehended for driving under the influence. After being flagged by a concerned motorist, the officer was found to have approximately 2.6 per mille of alcohol in his blood. The District Prosecutor's Office in Sosnowiec has charged the officer, who is currently under police supervision. The head of the Zawiercie police command has initiated disciplinary proceedings aimed at dismissing the officer from service.
