Poland reports summer food safety violations and worsening traffic jams

During the first month of the holiday season, the Polish State Sanitary Inspection examined more than 10 % of food‑service venues under its supervision and found irregularities in about 15 % of them. Issues included improper storage of food, hygiene breaches by staff, and missing health‑status documents for employees, according to deputy chief sanitary inspector Izabela Kucharska.

At the same time, the General Directorate of National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) recorded a 15 % rise in overall road traffic during the summer, with increases up to 30 % in tourist regions. The most congested stretch is the S8 expressway near Warsaw, where daily traffic approaches 200 000 vehicles. Traffic bottlenecks are especially severe on access roads to coastal resorts and mountain towns, prompting officials to advise travelers to check real‑time road conditions before departure.
