Poland restores historic Bishop's Palace walls in Kielce and Collegium Maius hall in Krakow

The 17th‑century Bishop's Palace of Kraków in Kielce, which houses the National Museum, is undergoing a 7‑month renovation of its surrounding walls. The project, funded with about 1.5 million PLN from the Świętokrzyskie regional budget, includes demolition of unsafe sections, reinforcement with steel bars, repair of stonework, and replacement of underground parts with reinforced concrete. Museum spokesperson Urszula Kinder said the work aims to halt further degradation and improve safety.

At the same time, the Jagiellonian University in Krakow is completing a comprehensive refurbishment of the historic Jagiellonian Hall (Collegium Maius). Co‑financed by the Social Committee for the Renewal of Krakow Monuments, the renovation covers conservation of wall polychromes, ceiling restoration, window and furniture repair, floor renewal, and modernization of electrical installations. The hall, used for honorary doctorates and cultural events, is scheduled to reopen by the end of the year.
