Poland retail: Eight shopping Sundays scheduled for 2026
In 2026, retail operations in Poland will continue to be restricted by the Sunday trading ban, which has been in place since 2018. Under current regulations, large supermarkets and shopping malls will only be permitted to operate on eight specific Sundays throughout the year.
The designated shopping Sundays for 2026 are January 25, March 29, April 26, June 28, August 30, and three consecutive Sundays in December: December 6, 13, and 20. Consequently, September 13, 2026, will not be a shopping Sunday.
While most large-scale retail is prohibited on non-trading Sundays, several exceptions remain. Businesses such as pharmacies, gas stations, flower shops, bakeries, and certain post offices are permitted to remain open to the public.
