Poland: Rising living costs drive surge in seasonal work

A growing number of Poles are seeking seasonal work to supplement their income due to rising living costs and high prices. According to data from the Tikrow agency, 45 percent of Polish students and pupils expressed interest in seasonal employment this year.

Beyond students, approximately 19 percent of the general adult population in Poland intended to take on seasonal work during the summer. For over half of these respondents (58 percent), the primary motivation was the need to fund additional expenses, while 48 percent cited the high cost of daily living as a driving factor.

On the employer side, roughly 65 percent of companies planned to utilize seasonal workers in the third quarter of the year, largely to manage seasonal increases in orders. Experts note that seasonal workers are increasingly viewing these roles as serious sources of income rather than casual summer jobs, leading them to demand better working conditions and clearer job scopes.
