Poland rolls out free mobile mammography clinics across towns

Poland's public health system is expanding free breast‑cancer screening by deploying mobile mammography units to numerous municipalities. The program, funded by the National Health Fund (NFZ), offers women aged 45 to 74 a digital mammogram every two years without a referral. Participants can register online or by phone, and the five‑minute exam is performed on‑site by Geneva Trust Polska staff.

The initiative highlights the importance of early detection: among women 50‑69 who regularly screen, mortality from breast cancer has fallen by 25‑30 %. Yet only about one‑third of eligible Polish women currently take part in the screening program. Mobile units are scheduled to visit towns such as Suwałki, Czeremcha, Mońki, Białowieża, Dubicze Cerkiewne, Brańsk, Wyszki, Drohiczyn, Mielnik, Siemiatycze, Grodzisk and Kulesze Kościelne in June 2026, with an additional visit planned for Giżycko on 2 July 2026 at the Kaufland market. The outreach aims to increase participation, provide convenient access, and improve early‑stage diagnosis, which is often curable.
