Polish seniors to receive EU‑funded telecare and new non‑cash benefit scheme

The municipality of Zduny in Greater Poland will receive 453,602.53 zł from European Union funds to launch the “Wielkopolskie telecentrum opieki”. The project will create a Senior Support Centre, equip selected seniors with emergency bracelets and offer in‑home and community services such as exercise classes, rehabilitation and assistance with social and financial matters.

In parallel, the Polish Sejm has passed legislation establishing the “Bon senioralny”, a non‑cash benefit that will allow seniors over 65 with a monthly income not exceeding 3,410 zł to obtain home‑based care services worth up to 2,150 zł per month. The programme, slated to start in the fourth quarter of 2026, will be funded with about 1 billion zł (100 million zł in the first year) and managed by municipalities, which will contract service providers. Approximately 20,000 seniors are expected to benefit initially. The law still requires Senate approval and presidential signature before it can be implemented.
