Poland rules out online voting for 2027 elections
Poland will not implement online voting for the 2027 parliamentary elections, and such a transition may not occur for several years. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Affairs Krzysztof Gawkowski stated that while the technology is currently available, the primary obstacle is political rather than technical.
Gawkowski noted that the high level of social and political polarization in Poland makes digital voting a significant risk. To prevent the undermining of election results and accusations of fraud, he emphasized the need to build trust in digital democratic mechanisms over many years. He suggested that the first step toward digital democracy could be the introduction of electronic signatures for candidate support.
